Director Elkan Spiller

The Story

Elkan Spiller was born in Cologne, Germany, in 1963. As the son of Holocaust survivors, his interest in Jewish history was sparked at an early age, and he went on to write his master’s thesis on anti-Semitism in German television at the University of Arts in Berlin in 1992. He has worked since then as a freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker for Deutsche Welle and various ARD broadcasters. He lived and worked many years in New York, Tel Aviv and San Francisco Bay Area. He just moved back to Germany to finish his one-hour documentary about Chaim and his mother.
