Four Portraits of Native Action

In 2004, Katahdin re-introduced to the American public 500 Nations, the landmark eight-hour series chronicling the history of Native Americans. Katahdin produced a special two-hour version of 500 Nations that was broadcast nationally on the Discovery Network in conjunction with the opening of the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. Katahdin also spearheaded the release of 500 Nations on DVD in collaboration with Kevin Costner’s Tig Productions and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment.

For Homeland: Four Portraits of Native Action, Katahdin Productions partnered with media education experts, Active Voice, to launch a comprehensive educational outreach campaign. Katahdin also developed organizing tools derived from Homeland designed for use by communities around the country. These tools help build organizing skills, and empower and inspire Native American communities in an effort to promote governmental and corporate responsibility.

Katahdin is currently joining forces with Facing History and Ourselves to bring an educational version of Blessed Is the Match to schools throughout the U.S. For more information, please visit Facing History and Ourselves.
